Thai Visa Information

🇹🇭 Tourist Visas (e-Visa, Visa-on-Arrival, Exemption)

  • Stay Duration: Up to 60 days, extendable once by 30 days at Immigration.

  • Requirements: Passport valid 6+ months, visa application, fee (~฿2,000 for VOA; e-Visa ~฿2,560+), proof of funds (฿10,000/person or ¢20,000/family in cash), return flight, accommodation, travel insurance.

  • Challenges: Thailand reinstated strict financial proof requirements as of May 2025. Some nationalities may face stricter scrutiny or shorter exemptions soon.

✔️ Documents Needed:

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months

  • Passport-sized photo (2″×2″)

  • Completed visa application

  • Proof of onward travel

  • Hotel booking or accommodation

  • Visa fee in Thai baht (paid upon arrival for VOA)

  • Additional cash for Visa Exemption stays (no visa required): 30–60 day entry, extendable for 30 days

🎓 Non-Immigrant ED (Education) Visa

  • Purpose: Study or attend training/seminars in a recognized Thai institution.

  • Duration: Usually 90-day initial + 1-year extension upon enrollment.

  • Requirements: Proof of course enrollment, enrollment in recognized school, passport, photos, financial proof, health insurance.

  • Investment: No major downsides; extendable upon course progress. Students can apply for a part-time Non‑B if study overlaps work.

✔️ Documents Needed:

  • Passport valid ≥ 6 months

  • Visa application and 2 passport-size photos

  • Admission letter from approved Thai institution

  • Proof of funds or financial support

  • Health insurance (may be required)

💼 Non-Immigrant B (Business / Work) Visa

  • Purpose: Employment, business travel, or professional contracts.

  • Requirements: Valid passport, visa form, recent photo, invitation letter or work contract, proof of funds (~฿20,000 solo / ฿40,000 with family), police record, medical certificate.

  • Duration: 90-day entry, extendable to one year after work permit approval. 90‑day reporting required.

  • Challenges: Approval often depends on company legitimacy and regulatory compliance.

✔️ Documents Needed:

  • Passport (valid ≥ 6 months) + photo + application form

  • Completed visa application

  • Letter from employer or educational/training authority

  • Bank statement showing sufficient funds (examples: ฿1,000–2,000 USD balance)

  • Work permit application (WP32) or internship letter if applicable

👪 Non-Immigrant O – Spouse / Dependent Visa

  • Purpose: Accompany Thai spouse or foreign sponsor.

  • Requirements: Marriage certificate, bank proof (฿400,000 deposit for 3 months or monthly income ฿40,000), sponsor’s passport/visa/work permit, photos, medical certificate.

  • Duration: 90 days initially, extendable yearly. Must report every 90 days. Re‑entry permit needed before exit.

  • Challenges: Financial requirement can be high; divorce or sponsor visa cancellation ends dependent visa. Working not permitted—must switch to Non‑B first.

  • Passport + photo + application form

  • Marriage certificate or proof of relationship

  • Thai ID documents of sponsor

  • Bank statement with required funds (e.g., USD 1,000–15,000 or income)

  • Medical certificate (often required)

🧓 Non-Immigrant O-A / O-X (Retirement) Visa

  • Eligibility:

    • O-A: Age 50+, annual income or savings above threshold, health insurance.

    • O-X: Long-stay up to 10 years, same age and financial requirements (~฿3 million deposit or equivalent).

  • Duration: 1-year (O-A) or 5–10 years multiple-entry (O-X).

  • Challenges: Requires annual renewal, medical insurance, and 90-day reporting. Insurance requirement often stricter for over‑50 applicants.

🌐 Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) — Digital Nomad Visa

  • Purpose: Freelancers, remote workers, high-skilled individuals.

  • Validity: Up to 5 years, entry stays up to 180 days, extendable every entry. Requires exit/re-entry every 180 days.

  • Requirements: Passport, proof of remote income (~฿500,000 deposit or stable income), work documentation (portfolio/business contracts).

  • Costs: ~400 USD application, ~฿1,900 extension per 180 days.

  • Challenges: Difficulties opening bank accounts; not considered a fully tax-resident visa initially, may complicate access to local services like insurance or banking.

✔️ Documents Needed:

  • Passport biodata page (≥ 6 months validity)

  • Recent photograph

  • Proof of residence document (e.g. bank statement or lease)

  • Bank statement showing no less than THB 500,000 (~USD 16,000), showing name and date

  • If accompanying family: marriage or birth certificate

  • Proof of self-employment or remote work ability

💳 Thailand Elite / Long-Term Resident Visa (LTR)

  • Purpose: High-net-worth or privileged residency schemes.

  • Visa types:

    • Elite/PE: Multiple-entry visas lasting 5 years, long‑stay packages.

    • LTR (Wealthy): Requires ≥ USD 1M assets; valid 10 years.

  • Challenges: High fees, limited flexibility, best for long-term residents who don’t need standard work pathways.

✔️ Documents Needed (LTR):

  • Passport biodata and photo

  • Qualified under one of five categories (e.g., Global Citizen, Work-from-Thailand, Wealthy Pensioner)

  • Proof of assets (e.g., USD 1M+ net, Thai investment or income)

  • Health insurance (USD 50,000 coverage)

  • Application Fee: USD 1,600

✔️ Documents Needed Elite Visa):

  • Passport copy and application form

  • Clean criminal record (no overstay)

  • Payment of membership fee (from THB 650,000 to THB 1.5M depending on package)

  • No age or work restrictions; fast-track immigration services & long-term stay options (5–20 years)
