The Best Time of Year to Play Golf in Pattaya

The Best Time of Year to Play Golf in Pattaya

Month-by-month guide to golf weather in Pattaya: cool, hot and rainy seasons, prices, crowds, holidays and the best time of day to play.

10 October 2026

Golf in Pattaya is played all year. There's no closed season and no frost delay. But the experience changes a lot through the year: the temperature, humidity, rain, course conditions, prices and how busy the tee sheets are. The best time to play depends on what matters most to you: comfortable weather, lower prices or quieter courses.

The weather descriptions below are general patterns, not forecasts. Every year is a little different, so check a forecast before your trip.

The three seasons at a glance

Season

Months

Weather

Golf

Prices and crowds

Cool season

November – February

Warm days, cooler mornings, low humidity, little rain

The most comfortable golf of the year, firm and fast conditions

Peak season: busiest courses, highest prices

Hot season

March – May

Very hot and humid, especially from late morning

Play early. Carts and lots of water recommended

Fewer visitors, some promotions

Rainy season

June – October

Hot and humid with frequent, usually short, heavy afternoon storms

Green and lush, softer fairways, possible stoppages for lightning

Quietest courses, often the best prices

Month by month

November

The rains usually ease and the cool season begins. Courses are green from the wet season and conditions improve week by week. Visitor numbers climb towards the end of the month.

December

One of the most popular months: comfortable temperatures, low humidity and very little rain. Courses are busy, especially over Christmas and New Year. Book tee times well ahead.

January

Often the coolest and most pleasant month for golf, and peak season. Expect full tee sheets at the best-known courses, and book early morning times in advance.

February

Still dry and comfortable, with temperatures starting to rise late in the month. Chinese New Year (which moves between late January and February) can bring extra visitors.

March

The hot season starts. Mornings are still pleasant, but the heat builds quickly. Early tee times become important.

April

Usually the hottest month. Songkran, the Thai New Year water festival in mid-April, means holiday pricing, busy roads and water fights in town. Plan your travel around it, and play very early.

May

Still very hot. The first storms of the rainy season often arrive later in the month. Courses are quiet and promotions are common.

June

The rainy season begins. Storms often arrive in the afternoon and clear quickly, so morning rounds are usually playable. Courses turn green and visitor numbers are low.

July

A typical rainy-season month: hot, humid mornings and a good chance of afternoon storms. Good value, and quiet courses.

August

Similar to July. Play early, keep an umbrella in the bag and enjoy the quieter courses.

September

Often one of the wettest months. Rounds can be interrupted, and some days are rained off completely. Low prices and empty courses for golfers willing to be flexible.

October

Still wet early in the month, with conditions improving towards the end as the cool season approaches. Courses are lush and green.

Best time of day to play

  • Early morning (first tee times): the coolest temperatures, the fastest rounds and the best chance of dry weather in the rainy season. The most popular slot, so book ahead.

  • Mid-morning to early afternoon: the hottest part of the day, especially from March to May.

  • Late afternoon and twilight: cooler and often cheaper, but in the rainy season this is when storms are most likely. Check the time of sunset, as you may not finish 18 holes.

Playing in the heat

  • Drink water before, during and after the round, and add electrolytes on very hot days.

  • Wear a hat, sunglasses and high-factor sunscreen, and reapply at the turn.

  • Choose light, breathable clothing and bring a spare shirt.

  • Take a cart in the hottest months.

  • Know the signs of heat exhaustion: dizziness, headache, nausea and heavy sweating. Stop, get into the shade and drink water if you feel unwell.

Playing in the rainy season

  • Book the earliest tee time you can.

  • Pack an umbrella, a waterproof jacket, spare gloves and towels.

  • Courses stop play when lightning is near. Follow the siren or the staff instructions immediately.

  • Expect softer fairways (less roll) and slower greens, and carts restricted to paths after heavy rain.

  • Ask the course about its policy if a round is stopped or rained off.

Prices and crowds through the year

The cool season is high season, with higher prices and busy tee sheets. The hot and rainy months are low season, when many courses offer lower rates or promotions. Weekends and Thai public holidays are always busier than weekdays. Compare live prices for your dates on the course list.
